The walk is provided with a minimum of 1 partecipant every Wednesday since 26th June to 11th September.
San Pellegrino in Alpe, famous medieval spot for pilgrims and traders, located 30 minutes far from the ridge line of the “Appennino Tosco Emiliano” since few years one of the MaB UNESCO reserves of the world.
We are in the northern part of the mountain chain called Apennines, the longest in Europe, that runs from north to south of Italy for 1500 km.
By the ridge line we’ll enjoy an outstanding view of the regions of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, the path is incredibly panoramic but at the same time easy and accessible to everybody.
The day starts with the visit to the medieval “Hospitale” of San Pellegrino in Alpe and the church with saints’ bodies. We’ll leave the village and we’ll reach the ridgeline crossing the beautiful grazings of the “Giro del Diavolo”, an ancient place rich of legends and fantastic scenaries.
The whole hiking takes more or less 4 hours and half with a maximum lenght of 7 km and 250 metres of ascent. Packed lunch or, on demand, we can stop at the mountain hut “Burigone” for a traditional meal.
Train Station of Castelnuovo Garfagnana at 10:00 am. After 40 minutes of car trip following the guide we’ll reach San Pellegrino in Alpe.
The coming back will be approximately at 4 pm.
The walk is easy. You need the minimum mountain equipment composed by: mountain shoes or trail shoes, backpack (at least 20 lt), jumper, rain cover, pants, sun cream and a hat. A walk stick is suggested. Please bring with you a complete dress change to be left into the car.
